What counts as a roofing emergency?

Treat it as urgent if water is entering the house now, or if loose material could come down on someone below. Typical examples are storm-stripped slates, ridge tiles hanging loose, water running through a ceiling, and damage from a fallen branch. A damp patch that only shows after a heavy downpour is less pressing and can be booked in as a normal repair.

Can I call you outside normal working hours?

Yes. Our listing shows us as open 24 hours, so you can phone whenever the damage happens. We will talk through what you are seeing and how to protect the room below in the meantime. When we can attend depends on the weather, safety and access, and we will be straight with you about that on the call.

What is a temporary roof cover?

It is a short-term measure to keep water out until a permanent repair can be made. Depending on the damage, that means heavy-duty sheeting fixed down with battens over the opening, slates or tiles refixed where possible, or lead dressed back into place. It buys time rather than replacing the permanent repair, which we quote for separately.

How much does emergency roof work cost?

It depends on the height and access, the extent of the damage and the conditions we are working in. Temporary work is priced on what is needed to make the roof safe and watertight. The permanent repair is quoted separately in writing once we have seen the whole roof, so you can decide on it with the facts in front of you.

How do I report roof damage to you?
